The clocks have been turned forward and the evenings stay lighter although I could still do with more hours in the day! This is the time when all the hard work put in at year’s end and over winter really pays off, but also the time for lots more hard work!
April can still be hit by hard frosts so resist all temptation to plant out anything that could be damaged by the cold. It’s also the time when slugs and snails reappear so consider protection. Pigeons are a threat to young brassicas so have nets ready to protect anything sown or planted now.
