There are loads of types of beans from your french climbing to the chunky broad bean, dwarf varieties of favourites like bolotti to the runner bean seen on the majority of allotment plots up and down the country. The runner bean was my first foray into growing my own and was a great success – the gardening bug grew from there!
Broad beans: My personal favourite is a variety called aquadulce as it is one to be sown in Autumn and overwintered in situ. It is good to know that the ground is not unused in the colder winter months.
